  1. I just bought a book by Mark Lauren called "You are your own gym."

His ideas really appeal to me, because I don't need to pay for an expensive gym membership. He advocates doing body weight exercises instead, which, after working through "Day 1" of the basic beginner's workout, really kicked my butt :)

  2. Lina, I will have to take a look at his book. I love seeing what is out there. Thanks for telling us about it!

  3. I already do strength training as a part of my normal workout! I do it at home, though, with some old videos. I use 5lb weights for the arm exercises (the video is fast-paced and doesn't allow time to switch between weights, though my shoulders should be strong enough to move up to the 7lbs in a couple weeks...). The video I use for my leg exercises are all body-resistance exercises, though.

It's funny, when I first started using these videos years ago in high school, we struggled with the arm exercises without using any weights at all (I ended up moving up to 7lb weights over the course of a year and a half!). When I started back up this year, I did two days without weights, and I just wasn't getting anything out of it! So I had to grab the 5lb weights again. Muscle memory can be an amazing thing!

  4. Also, forgot to say... I've never worried about getting bulky because I'll never be waif-thin anyways! lol And having the muscles is far better than having fat there!

  5. Krysta,
Thanks for the comments. Muscle memory really is a great thing! That's great to know that you are slowly working your way back up to 7's. What dvd is it?
